Just like a sweater, your purl necklace can become wrinkled if not stored properly. Rolling the necklace lengthwise in a piece of fabric or a tea towel will help keep the strands straight.
If your purl necklace gets soiled or snagged, you can spot clean it using a no-rinse fine fiber wash, like Eucalan. Mix 1/8 teaspoon of fiber wash with 8 oz of cold water in a spray bottle. Lay the necklace down on a towel and spray until damp. Gently rub to spot clean. Minimize moving wet jewelry to avoid stretching. Allow to air dry, keeping it out of direct sunlight.

Gold and silver plated jewelry should be put on after applying any perfume or lotions. Avoid getting jewelry wet, as this may cause it to stretch out. Storing plated jewelry in an airtight container when not in use will help prolong the surface plating. Never use jewelry cleaners on plated jewelry as this will cause them to tarnish faster.
